MID (Motor Insurance Database) Regulations
Main points:
- You must immediately supply (and keep up to date) vehicle details of all UK registered vehicle in your possession unless they are held for less than 15 days under the policy
- You must keep records of all vehicles held by you for less than 15 days for a minimum period of at least seven years and provide then on request to the Motor Insurer's information centre (MIIC)
If you refuse or fail to maintain or supply any information for the purposes of the Regulations you will be guilty of an offence and shall be liable on summary conviction to a fine of up to £5,000 for each offence.
Wanting to access the MID?
To access the MID and update it with details of your fleet, firstly you need to complete a Security Access Application Form (or SAAF).
You can get a copy of this form from your Broker, or the Norwich Union branch you normally deal with.

Once you have completed and returned the form, you will be contacted by the Norwich Union MID Helpdesk who will confirm your User I.D. and discuss the best method for you to use for sending your fleet details to the MID.
